Part 1 of the internal renovation contract at Repton Prep School, located in the hamlet of Milton, 1.5 miles from Repton in South Derbyshire, is now complete. Work began in July 2024, and we successfully handed over the roof replacement and internal refurbishment of the changing rooms in early September, in time for the start of the new school year.
The renovation of the changing rooms has been fully completed. Initially, we stripped out the existing ceilings, floors, showers, and sanitary ware. This first part of the project was primarily interior refurbishment and roof replacement. The old pitched roof on the changing rooms has been replaced with a modern flat roof to complement the new external cladding and blend seamlessly with the overall structure.
The refurbishment of the changing rooms includes reconfiguration of the space for an improved layout, new suspended ceilings, updated floors, a new heating system and enhanced lighting. We have upgraded the showers, toilets, lockers, bench seating, and internal decoration. Crisp, clean, white rock hygienic walling has been installed for the wall coverings, ensuring a durable and easy-to-maintain finish that enhances usability.
The external cladding for the changing rooms has also been completed, allowing the children to safely use the facilities at the start of the new term. The remaining external work is being carried out behind safety barriers, ensuring no disruption to the facility’s current use.
Both the main entrance and changing room external doors have been replaced. Part 2 of the contract, the replacement swimming pool roof and external cladding, is currently in progress.
The external walls have been stripped back to the original timber frame and are being clad with Swiss pearl Patina boarding and Monocouche style rendering. We will be moving on to the removal of the gables, and fitting of a new flat roof, creating an overall modern, streamlined appearance.
We are on schedule to complete the project by the end of October 2024.
