Removal of Chimneys at Nottingham City Hospital

Removal of 5.5 meter high chimneys and specialist cabinets by Allsopp Construction at Nottingham City Hospital for The University of Nottingham.

We recently completed a technical project involving the removal of fume cabinets, associated chimneys, and ducting at the Oncology unit of Nottingham City Hospital, undertaken for The University of Nottingham. The university has an agreement with the hospital to utilise various spaces for student training.

These labs had been in use for several years, equipped with five fume cabinets essential for allowing students to work safely with toxic chemicals and gases in a controlled environment. Each cabinet measured 2.5 x 2.5 meters and was a substantial piece of equipment, requiring specialist teams to de-fumigate and safely remove them.

Our team dismantled the 5.5m high chimneys and ducting and restored the roof, ceiling and walls to their original condition. Health and safety were of paramount importance throughout this project, and we ensured that every step was executed meticulously all whilst operating in a busy hospital environment.

Allsopp Construction has enjoyed a long-standing relationship with The University of Nottingham, with a dedicated team based there to assist with various repair, extension, and repurposing projects on an ongoing basis.
