Our Herbalshaw Meadow project is a house extension in Derbyshire, located in Weston Underwood, Ashbourne, and is now approaching completion with snagging currently underway.
This seven-month, £400,000 scheme delivered in collaboration with Matthew Montague Architects includes front and rear extensions and internal alterations designed to enhance the home’s functionality and flow while remaining sensitive to its existing character and rural surroundings.
The alterations have transformed the main living areas. A new single-storey extension has created a magnificent 7-metre-wide kitchen-diner, while a second extension connects the previously detached store to the main dwelling. This addition forms a spacious 4.5 × 4 metre boot room, utility area and storage facility.
The kitchen, to be installed by Steven Christopher, showcases exceptional craftsmanship, featuring IItalian tiles and reclaimed internal brickwork, including a distinctive curved wall.
A striking oak-framed apex entrance has been constructed on the north elevation providing an impressive new focal point. Six new rooflights on the east elevation further flood the interiors with natural light.
Comfort and efficiency have also been prioritised, with upgrades to the underfloor heating and MVHR system, including new digital thermostats for precise control.
