Despite the recent challenging weather conditions progress continues at our Breedon on the Hill site in North West Leicestershire. The development involves replacing two agricultural Dutch barns on an existing brownfield site with two modern, four-bedroom houses.
Plot 1 is the larger of the two at 925m², it has a T-shaped footprint with extensive structural steelwork supporting impressive, glazed expanses. Plot 2, while more classical in its rectangular footprint, is smaller at 760m².
Plot 1’s roof is now complete; all tiling and rainwater goods installed. The scaffolding has been removed, and the first fix is finished, including joinery and stud walls. The MVHR (Mechanical Ventilation with Heat Recovery) System ducting has been installed within a suspended ceiling void to house the pipework. While not a building regulation requirement, MVHR Systems are recommended in new builds due to their high insulation and airtight construction.
Plot 2’s brickwork is nearing completion, with the first fix team scheduled to begin work here in the next two weeks.
Both properties are being constructed using local materials: Ibstock facing bricks, natural stone and concrete panels.
Contracts Manager Shaun Kellow and the site team continue to maintain good progress across both plots.
