Work is underway at Herbalshaw Meadow Barn, a beautiful property tucked away in a peaceful valley in Weston Underwood, near Ashbourne, surrounded by rolling countryside. The main house and gardens are accessed via a private road and a generous driveway.
The planned works aim to improve the overall functionality, flow, and connection of the house while remaining sympathetic to its character and rural setting.
The scheme includes a thoughtfully designed single-storey extension to enhance the living space, seamlessly joining the previously detached store to the main dwelling. A striking front extension with an apex roof will not only improve the house’s appearance but also provide a spacious new kitchen and dining area, giving the impression of a new entrance.
Additional improvements include the installation of a Juliette balcony on the west elevation to maximise views of the surrounding countryside and a new porch on the north elevation to create a welcoming entrance.
On site, progress is steady. At the front of the property, the footings have been excavated and the masonry has reached DPC level. At the back foundations for the extension have been poured.
Excavated earth has been piled off the driveway on land the client may develop in the future for additional parking, though this is not part of the current project. We’re pleased with the steady progress and look forward to sharing more updates as the project develops.
