Allsopp Construction has been appointed to undertake a £200,000 refurbishment at the University of Nottingham’s Boathouse. Situated between Nottingham Forest’s football ground and Lady Bay Bridge on the banks of the River Trent, the boathouse has been the home of the University of Nottingham Rowing Club since it was founded in 1948.
The project involves the replacement of the existing pitched roofs with modern, insulated, metal-clad composite roofs.
The main Boathouse is an Art Deco building with white render and white-framed Crittall-style windows, the pitched roof behind the frontage will be subtly upgraded to maintain the building’s appearance. Additionally, the refurbishment will include the installation of new heating and lighting systems, alongside full internal redecoration.
The areas undergoing refurbishment include the training area, changing rooms, meeting rooms, and the bar/lounge area, ensuring the facility continues to provide a comfortable and functional space for the university’s rowing community.
We have worked with the University for many years, often having several jobs with them on site at any given time. We are delighted to have secured another University contract through a competitive tender process.
