Work continues at our Locko Road replacement dwelling project in Spondon, where we are replacing a dated three-bedroom bungalow with a contemporary four bedroom family home.
Drainage works are now pretty much complete, apart from a small section at the front of the property that will be connected when the attenuation tank has been installed. The attenuation tank will provide underground storage for surface water, helping to manage rainwater run-off and reduce pressure on local drainage systems during periods of heavy rainfall.
Block work has progressed to DPC level. The block and beam floor has been installed and the structural steelwork for the kitchen oriel window is now in place.
It’s fair to say that this project has taken a little longer to reach this stage than we would have liked. A number of structural engineering queries needed to be resolved during the early stages of construction. The good news is that these are now behind us and the project is ready to move forward at a much faster pace.
Bricklaying is scheduled to begin in the first week of June and the building will start to emerge quite quickly. Over the coming months, the distinctive features of the design, including the extensive glazing, black timber cladding and clean architectural lines, will begin to take shape.
